Tidak seperti konser-konser band luar yang sebelumnya digelar di Stardust cafe sebelumnya, pertunjukan Misery Signals di Jakarta ini relatif sepi pengunjung. Mungkin karena karena uang dan jumlah penonton sudah tersedot oleh konser <strong>Lamb Of God</strong>, Not Available &amp; <strong>Malevolent Creation</strong> yang digelar di setiap minggunya di bulan Maret 2009. </span></span></span><span lang="IN"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Misery Signals melakukan pertunjukan di Indonesia dalam rangka tur-promosi album terakhir mereka, yakni <em>Controller </em>(2008). Selain di Indonesia, mereka juga menggelar show di beberapa negara tetangga kita. Show mereka di Jakarta dibuka oleh lima band lokal, yakni: <strong>Alice</strong>, <strong>Thirteen</strong>, <strong>Killing Me Inside</strong>, <strong>Komunal</strong> &amp; <strong>Straight Out</strong>.</span></span></span></p><div style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"> </div><p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><span lang="IN"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Band pembuka pertama, <strong>Alice</strong>; band muda yang memainkan post-hardcore/emo-core. Penampilan mereka enerjik, sound yang dikeluarkan juga bagus. Tapi biasa saja. Nothing special. Band kedua cukup menarik, <strong>Thirtee</strong>n, band nintendo-core/8-bit metal-core. Dari penampilan mereka jelas terlihat kalau kunci permainan musik ada di pemain keyboard/synth mereka. Berbakat. Setelah Thirteen, naiklah <strong>Killing Me Inside. </strong></span></span></span><span lang="IN"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Band penampil berikut agak ganjil (kalau dilihat dari kesamaan musik antara band pembuka dengan band bintang tamu, yang rata-rata adalah emocore-metalcore). Mana bisa band stoner-rock/crossover-thrash seperti <strong>Komunal</strong> terselip di antara band-band itu? Haha… Ya, kuartet asal Bandung ini main dengan membawa banyak supporter pemuda paruh baya yang bergaya ala rocker/metalhead 90-an. Materi komunal menjadi lebih southern-rock, meninggalkan style crossover-thrash yang mereka mainkan dulu. Band pembuka terakhir, yaitu <strong>Straight Out</strong>. Para penonton hanya terdiam melihat aksi agresif mereka. Entah kenapa?… Ini<span> </span>adalah kali kedua saya menonton Straight Out, setelah dulu pertama kali melihat mereka pada tahun 2001 di Nirvana cafe. Materi baru mereka sekarang menjadi lebih blackened death-metal dengan banyak blast-beat, meninggalkan style gothic-metalcore ala band-band <strong>Good Life Recordings</strong> yang dulu mereka anut.</span></span></span></p><div style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"> </div><p style="text-align: justify; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><span lang="IN"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Setelah semua band lokal selesai tampil, kini giliran band utama, <strong>Misery Signals</strong> untuk tampil. Para penonton pun langsung menyemut di bibir panggung. Mereka langsung menggebrak panggung dengan keras. Tidak perlu menghitung menitan, mosh-pit pun langsung tercipta! Sebenarnya musik dari Misery Signals tidak ada yang spesial. Tipikal band-band rilisan <strong>Trustkill</strong> dan <strong>Ferret Music</strong> sekali; metallic-hardcore dengan chugga-chugga parts, clean singing parts, plus melodic/experimental parts ala band-band post-rock. Kalau saja mereka muncul di awal 2000-an pasti bakal setenar <strong>Poison The Well</strong> and co. Yang membuat saya heran, ternyata penonton banyak yang hafal lirik lagu dan ikut singalong dengan mereka! (well, now is the internet era man…). Setelah beberapa belas lagu plus encore, akhirnya selesai juga set mereka. Well, sukses buat <strong>Hit ‘n Run</strong> sebagai penyelenggara atas lancarnya konser ini.
